Celebrations

Yesterday was Joe’s Birthday, I knitted him some socks:

Knitted presents

The pair you see here is still not finished but I promised him I will not knit anything else until I finish this pair, it is Regia Jaquard color, I enjoy the smooth knitting and the automatic pattern result although I prefer the touch of the hand painted sock yarns. The other two pairs are hidden in those soft packages near the sad unfinished one:

Which one should I wear? he asks

As you can see, Joe had a problem deciding which one to wear and if you ask me, I think he likes them if he wears them in July in Arizona, even inside. You will never see me wearing any socks, not to mention wooly ones here at this time of the year!

The black one was started for last year’s birthday and got stuck in the one sock state for almost a year, the brown is the freckled yarn of Carol that made me so happy when I knitted it. They both fit nicely.

And another celebration: Harry Arrived:

Harry is here at long last

Ever since we bought the second book in Israel and then the third one in London (same trip, it took the wicked girl awhile to decide she likes these books,,,) she wants to read the original British edition so she waits and this time the wait was very profitable as you can see:

Oh Lucky Girl

I guess the online store where I ordered it shipped out a LOT of books that first day or maybe they decided we are such a nice customer we deserve the 2 for 1 deal ,,,
You should have seen the look of horror on the girl face when I suggested giving one as a present or something, I tell you, she is one of the last true book collectors this girl! And I like it.

My Multicolour Scarf

It is oppressively hot outside. I find myself wondering yet again what exactly I am doing here. Oh well, it happens every summer. It will probably pass coming November (I Hope).

The freckles keep coming out. This yarn’s colours show themselves much better while it is knitted, I have great fun with it, thank you Carol.

My latest creation just finished drying so let me present to you: my version of the popular chevron scarf:

Multi Colour Scarf

Yarn: Koigu KPPPM
Colours:151865 and D121X387 (they are not very clear) 1 each
Needles: Addi Turbo Lace 3.75 mm (US5)
Pattern: I used the zigzag pattern from the famous Jay Walker socks
Measurements: 9 cm (3.5″) width and a very long length,,, hehehehe,,,
(199 cm = 78.5″)

Knitting the Koigu is amazing, the colours keep changing and although the 2 colours looked completely different in the skeins, knitting them I sometimes had to check that I did not make a mistake and did change the colour when I needed to :)

It is a present for a very dear friend of mine. I hope it will arrive safely, in time and most important that she will love it.

Oh I almost forgot, my new header is the back side (I refuse to call it wrong, it is not wrong, so I will use the Hebrew terms of back and front of a knitted garment if you don’t mind) of this scarf. I love both sides of this pattern in the Koigu, what do you think?
