Winter Wonders

Did you ever walk on water?

I did, today or actually it was yesterday as it is after midnight now:

Yes I am standing on frozen water, so weird!

Walking on water made me happy

I never thought Joe will manage to convince me to walk on one of those frozen lakes, but after seeing the trucks parking on it and all the snowmobiles cruising all  over it, I decided it must be safe,,,  I am glad I decided to be brave, it was quite a unique experience.

It is a pity I didn’t bring my knitting with me but I didn’t have a sock anyway!

This and That

Although I want and need things like sweaters and cardigans and other large wearable objects, I keep knitting small objects.

And to think that my previous knitting persona knitted almost only sweaters where the need for them was much less pronounced,,, and so many of them too,,,, weird!

I blame it all on the yarns! All these colors and softness just keep me from knitting large objects! (good excuse, no? I really like it!)

This year they already made me knit 2 little things:

Oh well, I needed a hat that will cover my ears in this weather!

Oh well, I needed a hat that will cover my ears in this weather!

I used a skein of  Misti Alpaca Hand Paint Sock yarn in the color Piney Woods that I had in my stash (I do that from time to time,,,) I held the yarn double, used the Thorpe as a guideline, knitted it longer and omitted the ear flaps – the hat is warm, soft and cozy.

I also knitted this luxurious, soft, wonderful tube:

Hand Maiden 4 ply cashmere - such a treat to knit!

I really enjoyed knitting this simple stockinette cowl and I was very happy with my choice of pattern or lack of one!  I think it lets both the colors and the wool of the wonderful Hand Maiden 4 Ply Cashmere express themselves fully:

Look at these colors!

And before I go I must share with you the wine we had with dinner last night:

I like the boldness of the name!

I like the boldness of the name!

beside the entertainment supplied by the label, it was a lovely Sauvignon Blanc too.

Oh and I do have a cardigan for myself on the needles that I actually work on almost exclusively lately (yah,,, right!) that may have a chance to be finished in the foreseeable future; Unlike a few others that I think are doomed,,, maybe another sweater still has a chance, maybe!

And I can’t resist sharing with you this article from the New York Times Sunday Magazine: The Way We Live Now – Walk Away From Your Mortgage!
I think maybe this is the only way to make those banks take notice of us simple people, what do you think?

Did I promise the wine is the last thing for today….?…. I am really stopping now!

Good Intentions

I meant to write a long post.

I meant to take many photos and edit them too.

I meant to show recent finished objects and some yarns too.

I meant to ,,,

A White Beauty

But now I decided just to pop in and wish:

Happy New Year and a Great New Decade to Us All

prettypurple

before this day is over

and the wishing will turn into a meant to too!
