The Javelinas Hunt

This weekend Margene and her husband Smith were visiting Flagstaff, AZ and we had a chance to meet and spend a wonderful evening and day with them. I have many photos but am short on time today so let us start with the Javelinas Hunt. Awhile ago when I discussed the Javelina member of the swine family with Ann of the Purlingswine, she found out about the Javelinas on Parade in Sedona and I promised to take some photos the next time I will be in Sedona.

So, when we arrived to Sedona on our way to our final destination and I spotted one of those I asked Joe to STOP and find a parking place because us girls need to take some photos! so here are the few javelinas we found:

Margene, I and the Cowboy Javelinas Colorful Pair The Jungle Javelinas

The Mexican Javelinas The Javelinas in costumes

We spotted some more Javelinas when we were back in the car but sorry Ann, we had a very important destination with a closing time to bit, I promise to do a better job next time. More about the rest of our adventures and that destination, soon.

Look Who Came to Visit

Look who came to visit

Do you see the little bugger? Actually it did not come to visit but was brought in very unceremoniously by Saki, Joe decided to save it and the little bugger jumped and went to check Joe’s calf (very handsome calf),,, as you can see Saki was on the watch, trying to get his toy back. Cruel us, do not enjoy his gifts and do not let him play with them either, ackh .

Oh and the other night my stew tried to kill me,,, you can see the result in the photo that Joe had to take (he thought it was funny too, the wicked man)

.The Wicked Stew Attack

Luckily no real damage was done and the stew was very tasty too.

Apparently I put the lid on the pot too soon after I added the white wine and when I noticed that something was going on in there and opened the lid, I saw fire on the stew, I think some burning alcohol was on the lid and this is what caught some of my hair, it is a good thing I still have my chemist instincts, I pulled my head back automatically and moved away from the stove. Having glasses helped to!

And the knitting keeps going on! One Kaleidee is ready and his brother is on the needles as we speak.

My autumn throw gained another one and a half pattern repeats! Oh and the best thing about it? It helped! Last night we slept with open windows for the first time in months and months and it is after one o’clock already and the windows are still open – YAY!!!

A Quick Knit

Friday I realised October is just around the corner so starting a new project was a must; Joe’s mother is celebrating her birthday in October and she loves it when I knit things for her. I am so good in finding excuses, aren’t I?

So, I started the gorgeous Totally Autumn – it is another of Anne Hanson’s creations and as usual the instructions are clear and the project is great fun.

Totally Autumn a throw in chunky yarn designed by Anne Hanson My New Knitting Project A Purple Quick Knit

I knit it in ggh Savanna that I had in my stash (I am so good), the only problem is I don’t have enough yarn in one colour (the colour in the photos is not very accurate, it is hard to catch the colour of this one, I got all shades of purple in my different photos) so I will have to use the 3 I got, they are all shades of purple and I am hoping they will work well together, we shall have to wait and see about that.

After knitting only socks and some lace this summer, it is a real treat to knit in this chunky yarn, the throw grows so fast, I already have almost 2 pattern repeats out of the 6 required, I think I can finish it in time for the birthday, the only problem I foresee is that it is still hot here so knitting this will become too warm in a short while, I may need to go back to my on the table knitting technique! I will reveal it if I will have to use it.

I think one of the reasons I chose this pattern is its name, you think knitting it and some deep thoughts can bring the autumn to my end of the world too? fat chance,,, ooooysh!
