Knitting Creations: One Done, One Started

At long last I finished my socks:

Fleece Artist’s Simple Socks

I like the way they look, it is the third Fleece Artist‘s pair of socks I knitted and the first in which the socks look quite similar. I really like knitting their yarns, the colours supply endless entertainment while I knit.

Although I said I am going to finish some neglected objects hidden around my house, I had an urge to knit something with one of my Koigu Painter’s Palette Premium Merino = KPPPM yarns:

It is the start of Elizabeth Zimmerman’s Pi Shawl, I am not at all sure all these colours are suitable for this shawl, and how I continue after I finish this first skein is quite a complicated issue; I think I narrowed down my options:

Which one to use next?

But there is a good chance I will change my mind again.

While photographing the shawl, Joe took a photo that explain a lot:

At least to me! I am totally addicted to these colours! I so enjoy knitting this yarn, I don’t care if I will decide the Pi Shawl is not the right project for it and will have to start all over again,,,

Oh and did anyone else noticed the rainbows of colours created on the needle while you knit with these yarns? They just appear there and quickly disappear into the fabric where they look quite different. I have to stop knitting from time to time, gather as many of the stitches as I can on the needle and admire the rainbow, then I can go on with my knitting, weird me! I should try taking a photo to show you what the hell I am talking about.

Desert in Yellow

Saturday we went on a search of wildflowers.
We found yellow carpets all over the place:

And patches of delicate, beautiful Mexican Poppies:

This is the Organ Pipe, the cactus that gave its name to the National Monument where we were:

Organ Pipe Cactus

The afternoon sun revealed the beautiful deep red (like a good red wine) of the needles of this cactus, amazing!

Oh So Pretty

From the place I stood, I thought the cactus is blooming:

More stories, details and photos when I will have a minute. Soon hopefully!

The Boys

I meant to show you Joe’s helper yesterday but forgot, I talked so much about those socks, sorry about that.

Joe has so much work he recruited Saki to help him:

Isn’t Saki the best assistant?

The spring is here but not for long (unfortunately), flowers are blooming all over the yards around us (weeds too of course, are at their best), I had to have some at home:
Yellow Flowers

We plan to go look for some wild flowers this weekend, what are your plans? Have a great weekend whatever your plans are!
