This morning we had a visitor:
He was really hungry
And he managed to do it:
Joe took these photos through the kitchen window and they don’t really show how big the bird is but those woodpeckers manage to do it almost every time they try. They sure look weird compared to those fast tiny hummingbirds that use the feeder all the time. One day we will manage to capture one of them too!
oh fantastic photos! we have woodpeckers around here too; they like our oak trees.
That is determination! If a hummingbird saw that your woodpecker would have been chased away!
Hi – I came over from Anne Hanson’s site and had to comment on 2 things: how sweet was that picture of Anne with her head resting on your birthday gift for her?! And – you probably already know this – your woodpecker at the hummingbird feeder is a flicker! We have them in our yard, but never more than one or two at a time, and they get *really* big. Congratulations!
