My friend Luly Mason who lives in Dublin, Ireland, just returned from a Spanish studying trip to Valencia, Spain. During her visit she went to school and stayed with a local family. She says the conversations with the family were the most helpful to her Spanish.
She sent me these amazing photos of her hostess, Toña Peris Raurell working on her hobby:
What an amazing work. I wonder how she remembers which bolillo to use next. I can imagine the mess I would have done with all these pins, threads and bolillos.
And I thought knitting lace is complicated !
Thank you Luly for showing me this beautiful work and letting me use your photos to show it to my friends here.
Oh, wow. That’s just crazy. I would be tangled up in no time flat! I love seeing the pictures — thanks for sharing them. :)
Wow – that is amazing. I would love to see that in person and see how she does it. Thanks for sharing them!
Bobbin lace is an amazing process. That a seemingly tangled mess of pins and bobbins could turn in to fabulous lace is such a mystery.
What beautiful pictures! I’m so excited to see someone making lace. I learned at the early age of 12 and made quite a bit of lace in my teen years. All my pillows and bobbins are packed away just now but my daughter will soon be old enough to learn and I can’t wait to pull it out and start again!
