Desert in Yellow

Saturday we went on a search of wildflowers.
We found yellow carpets all over the place:

The Desert Wore Yellow

And patches of delicate, beautiful Mexican Poppies:

This is the Organ Pipe, the cactus that gave its name to the National Monument where we were:

Organ Pipe Cactus

The afternoon sun revealed the beautiful deep red (like a good red wine) of the needles of this cactus, amazing!

Oh So Pretty

From the place I stood, I thought the cactus is blooming:

More stories, details and photos when I will have a minute. Soon hopefully!

wow – gorgeous flower photos – and the cactus too – I adore the red red tips on the cactus! I’m glad we’re having a small “cool” spell come through – I’m not ready for the heat!
