I Am Free Again…

I am free again to go wherever my pretty little heart desire (at least in my dreams). What I mean is – Yesterday, I got my new USA passport (it feels quite weird) and even my Naturalization Certificate managed to find its way back home to me today (they did send them in separate envelopes, so I am not completely crazy,,, and still, I think it is not very high security to send this kind of documents not in registered mail {ackh, those nudnik Israelis,,,}).

To make you forget my constant nagging here are some pretty desert flowers:

Pretty little pink flowers

Poppy I think!

Joe took those photos two or three weeks ago when we hiked near Cave Creek. I am almost sure the yellow one is called Mexican Poppy but does anyone recognise those pretty little pink thingies?

The yellow are most definitely Mexican Gold Poppies – as for the pink, I’ve got a photo of those also, and have been working on the identification for quite some time. I’ve got a new plant book coming, and am hoping it will provide some enlightenment :)

Yay for passports! (I hate it when I don’t have mine…) Those yellow ones also look a lot like what we (in a fit of ethnocentrism) call California poppies :)

I thought I had it :( but it looks like the book I have still does not id the pink flowers – yours look similar to mine – and on a shrubby plant too (http://farm1.static.flickr.com/176/471549209_953f469d31_m.jpg) Thought if yours were on a small single stemmed plant I thought they might be salt heliotrope – but the leaves are all wrong, and your flowers look like they are 6-segmented also (rather than the 5 of the heliotrope) *sigh*
