Friday I realised October is just around the corner so starting a new project was a must; Joe’s mother is celebrating her birthday in October and she loves it when I knit things for her. I am so good in finding excuses, aren’t I?
So, I started the gorgeous Totally Autumn – it is another of Anne Hanson’s creations and as usual the instructions are clear and the project is great fun.
I knit it in ggh Savanna that I had in my stash (I am so good), the only problem is I don’t have enough yarn in one colour (the colour in the photos is not very accurate, it is hard to catch the colour of this one, I got all shades of purple in my different photos) so I will have to use the 3 I got, they are all shades of purple and I am hoping they will work well together, we shall have to wait and see about that.
After knitting only socks and some lace this summer, it is a real treat to knit in this chunky yarn, the throw grows so fast, I already have almost 2 pattern repeats out of the 6 required, I think I can finish it in time for the birthday, the only problem I foresee is that it is still hot here so knitting this will become too warm in a short while, I may need to go back to my on the table knitting technique! I will reveal it if I will have to use it.
I think one of the reasons I chose this pattern is its name, you think knitting it and some deep thoughts can bring the autumn to my end of the world too? fat chance,,, ooooysh!
oh rachel it looks great! i love the idea of doing it in bands of purples.
