Proof of Knitting

I think it is time to show proof of knitting here:

Recently I finished Quincy, the lovely hat from Jared Flood Made in Brooklyn booklet:

Oh I love this swirling crown and the I-cord too!

Oh I love this swirling crown and the I-cord too!

This one was a complete process knitting, the minute I saw this hat I wanted to knit it, just to understand how it is constructed and I really enjoyed it, but we have a problem finding a head that will fit this hat,,, hehehe

I also knitted some simple socks for Mary my MIL for her birthday:

I like the way the pick up from garter stitch looks.

I used Isobel a handpainted fingering sock yarn by: Mocha’s Fiber Connection I bought in the New Hampshire Sheep and Wool festival last May. I really like how the pick up from the garter stitch looks, so nice and smooth.

And the latest project off my needles: a simple stockinette triangle shawl I decided I have to knit for Mary’s birthday less than a week before the day:

I love the simplicity of this shawl

I love the simplicity of this shawl

It was ready only 2 days too late and I could have done better if I didn’t screw up the m1’s in my first attempt or even if I noticed it before I reached 50 something stitches on each side of the center line,,, oh well, both the recipient and the knitter are happy with the result and this is the important part, right?

I used Araucania Panguipulli a lovely aran yarn I spotted at the booth of The Purple Purl in the very disappointing Creativ Festival in Toronto, October 16, 2009.

And I am still looking for the cardigan I must knit myself,,,, in the meantime I am reaching the end of the body of a simple v neck for myself (photos to come) but the cardigan elude me, ackh! and to think I once knitted almost only sweaters,,,,

And to make you smile I will show you how I look with that hat:

My Quincy? I don't think so, although the snow may change my mind about this,,,

My Quincy? I don't think so,,,

I think my face says it all, but maybe the snow will change my opinion, who knows?

Cookie Made Me Do It!

Hmmmm,,, Apple cake

Hmmmm,,, Apple cake

Yes, she did!

She sent me a link to the recipe of this most delicious looking apple cake in response to my request for ideas in my apple picking post.

Thank you Cookie, the cake is indeed as delicious as it looks, even before we let it stands for a day as per the Smitten Kitchen advise.

So delicious!

So delicious!

And I still knit. I had a little issue with my 2009 TTL Mystery Socks.

After I finished the cuffs last week, I thought they are a bit loose but couldn’t make up my mind. So this week I knitted a whole leg before I tried it on and decided it is indeed too loose. I thought what I need to do is go down a needle size and not decrease the number of stitches. I decided to leave the leg and the other cuff intact and start a third sock on smaller needles and this sock really looks and fits much better.

So now I am almost at the end of the second sock on the smaller needle after I ripped both the leg and the cuff I knitted before. photos soon.
